Black is the version of this design where the artwork wins. Because the mudguard, the throat and the quarter panel are all black, the rampant Lion of Judah printed across the side - crowned, holding its standard, with Selassie scripted underneath and Iron, Lion, Zion and Rastafari set into the linework - reads with nothing competing against it. Above the lacing, a green panel is flecked with gold and red paint splatter, and the toe cap carries fine red and gold diagonal pinstripes. A red, gold and green band wraps the heel.
